Central Football Cracks D2 Football Poll

ELLENSBURG, Wa - The Central Washington Wildcats football team, winners of four straight games, are now ranked 23rd in the latest poll.

The Wildcats are also ranked seventh in the Super Region 3 rankings.

This makes Central's game at Azusa Pacific this Saturday evening one of the most important in school and perhaps conference history.

Azusa is ranked sixth in the regional poll with the top seven teams making the playoffs.

Central's last loss was at home to Azusa last month, but the Wildcats have won four straight and look to make it five in a row this Saturday in California.

"Our preparation all week long, making sure we have good practices in the morning, watching film, studying them, we're getting better at it," quarterback Justin Lane said.

"We work every week to improve, this group has been doing that," head coach Ian Shoemaker said. "We lost a couple tough games in the fourth quarter, now our guys are finding a way to get that done earlier."

Saturday's game against Azusa Pacific is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
