YPD motorcycles get new ticket technology

YAKIMA, Wash. -- New equipment will help some Yakima Police Department officers write tickets faster. Motorcycles are getting tablets.

Handheld computers were installed in patrol cars last year, but motorcycle officers primarily respond to accidents and write tickets. YPD says the electronics will help officers work faster and be more organized. They will also reduce the risk of lost paperwork.

"We've been waiting for a system like this for a long time to make our job easier and faster and they're picking it up really, really quick," said YPD Sergeant Chance Belton.

YPD has six motorcycle units.
