Yakima pilot program collects 20 tons of recyclables so far

YAKIMA, Wash. -- About 20 tons of recyclable material has been collected since Yakima started the pilot recycling program in May.

More than 500 households in the Kissel Park area are in the curbside program. It ends in about two weeks.

Yakima hired consultants to analyze the results. The city also plans to use a focus group for feedback from neighbors.

A citywide program would likely charge for monthly pickup.
