Work on new 911 communications center should start in a few weeks

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Work on a new 911 communications center in Union Gap should start in three weeks.

Yakima County is expected to sign an agreement with the contractor this week. The city and county will share the cost of the $4 million remodel.

Money will come from a bond. The new center will be home to 911 operations, city dispatch and EMS officers.

It will be located in Yakima county's old restitution center in Union Gap.
