Vietnam veterans honored in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. -- It wasn't a friendly welcome for many Vietnam veterans when they returned home. Governor Inslee signed into law a special day to honor our veterans.

Hundreds gathered to show support at the Sarg Hubbard Park in Yakima Sunday. Veterans told KIMA they've been spit on after coming home from war. It even took some veterans a couple of decades to talk about being a Vietnam veteran.

One veteran said he was able to get support from the Yakama Warriors Association.

The Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day was brought to the state legislature's attention by the Yakima Warriors Association.
