YAKIMA, Wash. -- Sheriff Ken Irwin was named the Grand Marshal for the 53rd annual Yakima Sunfair Parade. He has been the county Sheriff since 2001 and was born here in Yakima. The announcement was made Friday morning at the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce office.

Sheriff Irwin is retiring at the end of this year after 41 years in law enforcement. He said he's honored to be able to be a part of the parade.

"What a hoot to be the Grand Marshal of your hometown parade," said Sheriff Irwin. "That's very special."

The Sunfair Parade is the longest running Yakima parade. It will be held this year on September 20th at 10 a.m.
