Fire crews rescue flagpole worker

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Monday's heat caused a man to pass out while on top of a flagpole in Downtown Yakima. He was working on the flagpole at the Federal Courthouse on Third Street right off Yakima Avenue.

Fire crews say he was dangling upside down holding onto the rope and the pole with his legs. Witnesses said they were worried he fell off at first.

"I thought he was falling off the pole at first," said Brent Journeay. "I thought his harness gave way or something and he was falling off the pole. But when he flipped and he was just hanging there, I knew that he wasn't falling off the pole at that point, you know?"

The man was treated at the hospital for dehydration.
