Ellensburg weighing salary boost for city manager position

ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Ellensburg is considering new options to find its next city manager. One of them is a salary boost.

The city's been looking since Ted Barkley stepped down at the end of January. Fourteen people applied.

Ellensburg made one offer, but was turned down. A recruitment firm is now handling a new search. And, City Council is considering a salary increase that would boost the city manager's salary to between $105,000 and $140,000.

Council will discuss the proposal tonight.
