Defendants in Holbrook murder case will be tried separately

YAKIMA Wash. -- Four people charged with the murder of a Yakima real estate agent will not be tried together.

A defense attorney said the judge decided to hold four separate trials. One is likely to begin after Memorial Day.

Vern Holbrook was severely beaten and had his throat slit while showing a home.

Prosecutors say the motive was money and revenge, after Holbrook stopped supporting his former daughter-in-law financially.
