HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP/CBS21) — Witnesses say they heard shots fired near the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg.

Authorities say a car traveling on 3rd St. shot at a Capitol police car also traveling on 3rd st.

Captain Olivera with Harrisburg Police confirms the suspect is down, but police are unable to approach the body due to a "device."

The officer in the patrol car is reportedly not injured and was not taken to the hospital.

Streets around the building are closed off and there is a large police presence.

An ambulance was on the scene.

This is a developing story and CBS 21 will provide more information when it becomes available.
