Yakima's transit manager quits after 12 years on the job

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima's transit manager has moved on after 12 years in the position.

There's no indication Ken Mehin quit after bus service almost got cut between Yakima and Ellensburg. Supervisors said they were aware Mehin was looking for a new job for several months. He's heading to work for the transit authority in Grays Harbor County instead.

"Did he give a reason why he resigned?" KIMA asked.
"No. Just that obviously he thought he'd done good stuff here and wanted to move on to something else," said Yakima Public Works Director Scott Schafer.

Yakima's irrigation supervisor will be the acting transit manager for at least six months.
