Yakima Transit offers free shuttle service to fair-goers
YAKIMA, Wash. - The 125th Central Washington State Fair is nearing, and attendees may be looking at transportation options.
According to City of Yakima leaders, Yakima Transit will offer free shuttle services to the fair during the 10 day-run of the fair.
Shuttle buses will run continuously from the Park and Ride location at Gateway Center, which includes Target and Big Lots! Passengers will load at the bus stop north of the former Office Max and be shuttled directly to the fair, located at Yakima State Fair Park.
Buses will start running a half hour before the fair starts each day and stop running a half hour after it closes each night. Hours can be found at the Central Washington State Fair website.
The #6 Fair Avenue/North Fourth Street route will also stop at the fairgrounds at least hourly from the Downtown Transit Center until 6:25 pm.
“Ridership has increased steadily over the past three years," Yakima Transit Manager Alvie Maxey said in a statement. City leaders said the shuttle had well over 17,000 riders in 2016, up from 16,917 in 2015 and 16,391 in 2014.
All Yakima Transit bus routes will run regularly throughout the fair with standard fares, according to a news release.
