Yakima Transit looking to make changes on bus routes

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima Transit is bringing cuts back to the table. It's considering cutting down one bus route and changing another.

Transit officials want to shorten Route One to stop at 72nd Avenue and service to Nob Hill Boulevard could be added between 64th and 72nd avenues.

Officials say eliminating Route Eight could save more than $300,000. It's money that would go towards improving aging buses. Bus riders don't want to see Route Eight eliminated.

"I rely on the bus and if they eliminate it, I could take Route One but it's a lot longer," said Zachary Hanson.

Yakima City Council will discuss the transit proposal this Tuesday.
