Yakima to reopen Corrections Center at fairgrounds this year

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima officials plan to reopen the Corrections Center located at the fairgrounds this year.

It's been closed and empty since 2010. That's when the contract to house King County inmates expired.

Officials expect to open it this year because the downtown jail is finally full. It will house low level offenders only. Violent offenders will be kept downtown.
