Yakima teen killed in crash near Selah

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- An 18-year-old Yakima man died early Saturday morning after a crash north of Selah Friday night.

Washington State Patrol says Clayton Kester died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Troopers say Kester was driving north on Wenas Road around 10:45 p.m. when he tried to make a left turn onto Lancaster Road. His Chevrolet pickup was then hit by a Ford pickup being driven by 28-year-old Steven Gibbs of Selah. According to WSP, Gibbs had moved into the oncoming lane to pass Kester's truck.

Gibbs was also injured. He was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

WSP has not said whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
