Yakima Schools receiving grant to help raise students' math scores for state testing
YAKIMA, Wash.--The Yakima School District is getting grant money to help students get better scores on statewide testing.
$150,000 from College Sparks will be heading to the district to help increase eighth grade math scores for the Smarter Balance Assessments.
District leaders say the focus will be on teaching students how to use reasoning in mathematical problem solving.
College Sparks is awarding over a million dollars throughout the state from its Community Grants program this year.
