Yakima School District hands out boxes filled with school supplies

YAKIMA, Wash. - The Yakima School District (YSD) has been handing out boxes filled will school supplies all week and made their final stop at McClure Elementary Friday afternoon.

The district applied for these Yoobi classroom packs about a month ago and received 248 boxes.

YSD Social Emotional Specialist Omar Santoy said that's enough for every kindergarten through fourth grade classroom in the district.

Santoy delivered the final 8 boxes Friday, dropping one off to some first graders at McClure Elementary.

"They were really excited," he said. "Hopefully they're walking away from this experience with a sense that people who they don't even know, care about their education."

The boxes are filled with pencils, glue, markers, folders, scissors, rulers and much more.
