Yakima school board approves $193M budget

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Spending has been approved for Yakima schools.

The Yakima School District expects to lay out more than $193 million on operations this school year. That's about 8 percent more than last year.

The budget includes a projected $10 million deficit. If the district falls short, it would have to run through about half of its reserves. But, school officials say that isn't likely. The district expected to dip into its savings last year, but actually added to its reserves instead.
