Yakima says political signs not allowed on street signs

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Political signs are plastered on street signs even though it's not allowed in Yakima. You contacted KIMA about the issue so we looked into it.

A spokesperson for Yakima says it's a safety hazard. No signs can be placed on traffic signs or lights in Yakima.

They city's Streets and Traffic Department will take them down if they see them there. But there will be no fines or penalties for the candidates.

Drivers are just glad they'll be removed.

"I think they're paying more attention to the signs than the stop lights and the stop signs and some people possibly could get hurt," said Richard Moose.

Yakima says political signs are allowed in parks and medians.
