Yakima ranked as one of Washington's least safe cities
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima is one of the least safe cities in Washington state, according to a new ranking published by real estate blog Movoto.
Movoto ranked 74 cities with populations larger than 10,000 on murder, violent crime, property crime and total crime, then combined those ratings into an overall score.
Yakima had the second highest overall score in the state. Its ranking suffered due to the large number of murders reported in 2012.
Grandview had the 28th highest score among the 74 cities listed. On the other side, Sunnyside ranked as the 24th safest city in Washington, while Ellensburg was 29th.
The ranking was based on 2012 crime statistics. Cities that do not report crime data were not included.
