Yakima looks to improve bicycle lanes

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima is considering improving bike lanes in the city. The plan is to hire a consultant to develop a strategy.

Bicyclists say bike paths aren't consistent. They'd like to see more connections.

Ideas include adding signs on the streets to bring attention to riders. They hope any changes make things safer.

"Part of the fun of cycling is to let your mind go and if you're always worrying about traffic, it's not as much fun," said Perry Neal, a Yakima bicyclist.

Yakima wants to hire a consultant by Labor Day and set aside $40,000 dollars for it.
