Yakima leaders discuss ways to beautify Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima leaders met today to discuss some ways to improve Yakima's appearance. This includes cell towers, banners and revamping North First street.

Yakima's city manager told KIMA the city is behind the times when it comes to camouflaging cell towers. They also discussed progress on North First Street and enforcing sign and billboard rules.

"(We need to) make them balanced and fair so that, A. we can improve our cell tower technology and ensure good coverage," said Yakima City Manager, Tony O'Rourke. "But at the same time don't adversely effect the quality of life and aesthetic value of the community."

The city manager says this is the first of several meetings to come. You'll begin to see changes on North First Street next spring.
