Yakima kindergartners enjoy Halloween STEM class

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Costumes and candy reigned supreme at Garfield Elementary School in Yakima today. They were actually part of the lesson plan.

Almost a hundred kindergarteners showed up to learn about math and science using pumpkins.

With the help of fourth graders, the kids measured their pumpkins, weighed them and counted the seeds. There was some art, too.

The school wanted to integrate every subject into the day. Students, like Aiden, seemed to love it: "I really like doing this and you know else? I can't wait for Halloween because that's my favorite day of the year."

This was the first time Garfield has held the program.
