Yakima hires Gang-Free Initiative, emergency preparedness manager

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima has a new manager to head up its emergency preparedness and Gang-Free Initiative programs.

Perry Tarrant spent three decades in Arizona with the Tucson Police Department, where he was a captain.

In his new position, he will be responsible for bringing the Gang Free Initiative into full operation. He will also coordinate Yakima's emergency response plans.

Tarrant will be paid about $122,000 a year. He will start work Tuesday.
