Yakima DSHS staff member honored

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima's DSHS staff had a novel idea to recognize people while they're still around, rather than after they're gone.

Patti Nagle was highlighted for her decades of work as a public servant. She's a social worker for DCFS. Patti has worked with countless children and volunteered hours for the department and with other community events.

There's now a plaque next to a tree with Patti's name.

"It means a lot to me because, you know, the people that you work with that you see every day are important people, they're important people in my life," said Patti Nagle.

The idea sparked when two workers admired "in memory of" plaques and wanted to do something special for someone who is still alive and working hard.
