Yakima County schools receive state career readiness awards

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Five Yakima County schools have received statewide recognition for their college and career readiness programs. They are among 23 statewide winners of the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's Career Guidance Award of Excellence for 2014

Grandview High School, Grandview Middle School, Compass High School in Grandview, Toppenish High School, and Toppenish Middle School are all award-winners.

OSPI says the recognized schools have improved their graduation rates and academic success by doing more to prepare their students for college and careers.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn will honor all 23 winning schools Mar. 12 at a ceremony in Renton.
