Yakima County prosecutors fighting for murderer to get longer sentence

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. - There was a court date Thursday for a convicted murderer who might get a longer sentence.

Yakima County prosecutors are appealing Salvador Nava's punishment for a gang-related murder 13 years ago. He was caught years after fleeing to Mexico.

He's currently serving 43 years. Prosecutors are fighting to add another five after an appeals court ordered a re-sentencing.

A decision is expected in late April.
