Yakima County auditor to retire at year's end

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Yakima County will need to elect a new auditor. Corky Holloway announced her retirement.

Her office oversees local elections, marriage licensing, and car registrations, among other things.

She's been on the job since 2001. And, is the only Democrat to occupy an elected county office.

Holloway plans to retire at the end of the year. She told KIMA the role of auditor has been an honor.

"I've been very humbled being elected four times. It's just amazing to me that I've had the voters respect and support that long."

Holloway is a 67-year-old newlywed. She decided to retire to spend more time with her new husband.
