Woman sentenced for shooting Wapato man in the face
WAPATO -- A Toppenish woman has been sentenced to 29 years in federal prison, after confessing to murdering a 74-year-old Wapato man.
Federal prosecutors say 37-year-old Jennifer Joyce Douglas plead guilty, and has now been sentenced.
In November of 2016, prosecutors said she went to a home on the 200 block of Sumace Road in Wapato, shot 74-year-old Anthony Sanchey in the face and shot Carrol Sanchey multiple times.
Carrol Sanchey survived the shooting. Anthony Sanchey did not.
A judge has sentenced Douglas to 355 months in federal prison for second degree murder and use of a weapon during a crime.
Douglas has also been ordered to pay the victim's family members $282,007.00 in restitution.
Douglas was arrested after a traffic stop shortly after the killings. The FBI said she confessed to the crimes stating it was a blur, and "I don't know why I did it."
The motive for the shootings is still unclear.
