YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima hopes a plan to reach out to the community will help cut crime and vandalism. It's a campaign called 'Be Part of the Solution.' It will focus on getting volunteers to report crime and clean up graffiti. Yakima will use television, print and radio ads to get people involved. It will be organized through the city's community relations department.
"If everybody can pitch in and actually help remove some of it, it will help downtown and surrounding areas look better and then when people are passing through, they'll notice we've got a really clean place," said David Tibbett-Egger.
KIMA CBS Yakima, Washington covers news, sports, weather and events in the area, including Terrace Heights, Fruitvale, Union Gap, Selah, Cowiche, Tieton, Naches, Birchfield, Sapato, Wiley City, Harwood, Tampico and Pomona.
