Roughly 90 firefighters and emergency management personnel are on the ground, digging lines. Three helicopters are doing water drops from above.
A state Department of Natural Resources spokesperson says firefighters are expected to work through the night. They'll perform a burnout operation, to get rid of some of the fuel.
Containment figures are not yet available and no cause has been determined.
Power is out from Badger Pocket to the Yakima River. There are no reports of any home damage.
A section of eastbound I-82 was closed earlier, forcing drivers down a detour. It has since re-opened.
