Whooping Cough outbreak hits the Yakima Valley
YAKIMA, Wash. - The Yakima Health District now confirms 21 cases of Whooping Cough in the region.
The majority of the cases have occurred in children ages 10 to 18 -- and cases have been in the Granger and Sunnyside school districts.
The infection can be treated with antibiotics, but people are infectious from the time they start coughing and sneezing until their fifth and final day of antibiotics.
The district is encouraging people to get vaccinated.
