West Valley house fire still under investigation

YAKIMA, Wash. -- KIMA learned a private investigator will look into the fire that destroyed a home over the weekend in West Valley.

West Valley Fire Department told KIMA they received a call around 10:30 on Saturday night about a house fire located on South Pear Avenue between Tieton and Summitview.

The fire department said the fire started in the garage and spread to the home. They looked around the heater area to see if that's what caused the fire, but are still investigating.

No one was home at the time the fire started. Crews went back to the house on Sunday morning to put out some smokey spots. Estimated cost of damages is around $150,000.
