West Valley awarded grant to hire 3 firefighters

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The West Valley Fire Department received more than $380,000 in federal money to hire three additional firefighters.

The FEMA SAFER grant will fund the full-time positions for the next two years.

The firefighters will serve as front-line responders. It'll increase the day-shift for the department.

This is the third FEMA grant received this year. The other two combined for more than 587-thousand dollars to the department.
