Washington jobs on the rise from previous year
OLYMPIA, Wash. - The amount of jobs are increasing in Washington state.
The state added 6,100 jobs in December alone.
According to the Employment Security Department, Washington’s unemployment rate was at 4.5 percent in December 2017, down from 5.1 percent in 2016.
"Unemployment is hovering at record lows,” said Paul Turek, economist for the department.
Washington added an estimated 95,500 new jobs from December 2016 through December 2017, the ESD report said.
Industries that saw notable job growth compared to previous years were professional and business services, construction and education and health services.
