Wapato man leads police on high-speed chase
TOPPENISH, Wash-- A Wapato man leads police on a high-speed chase.
It happened just after 6:30 P.M., Saturday night.
Police say 32-year-old Amado Ramos was seen driving recklessly in Toppenish.
Police tried to pull him over multiple times, but Ramos refused to stop.
The Yakama Tribal Police, Toppenish Police, and the Yakima County Sheriff's Office were all involved in the pursuit.
Ramos crashed head on into the vehicle of Yakama Tribal Police.
He tried to escape on foot, but was arrested within five feet of his car.
Ramos is a tribal member, so tribal police are handling the investigation.
Police say he's being charged with six counts of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, obstruction of justice, three counts of marijuana possession, illegal gun carry, and injury to public property.
