Wapato High School recognized for graduation rates
YAKIMA, Wash. - The State Board of Education and the Office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction awarded Wapato High School with the 2016 Washington Achievement Award.
Last year Wapato High School had a graduation rate of 91 percent. The year before it was 95 percent.
School leaders hope with the help of staff, parents and students, they can can reach a 100 percent graduation rate this June.
"It feels great but I'm really proud with the work that my students and my staff did to get our graduation rates to a level that is recognized by our state. I'm just fortunate to be the captain of the ship," said Eric Diener, Principal of Wapato High School.
Principal Diener will be attending an awards ceremony in Auburn on May 3rd to receive the award on behalf of the high school and the district.
