Volunteer opportunities to serve the city of Yakima are now available
YAKIMA Wash. -- Volunteer opportunities for people interested in serving for the city are now available.
The Yakima City Council is looking for volunteers who would like to be part of the Yakima Community Integration Committee, Planning Commission, Community Review Board, Historic Preservation Commission and the Board of Appeals.
10 positions are currently open with two positions for youth members ages 16 – 22.
City Spokesperson Randy Beehler says this is a great way for people to learn more about their communities and have a voice.
“The committees examine and research issues at a greater level and then provide advice to the council on how they should be done or how it should act," said Beehler.
People in these positions will be required to attend meetings monthly.
Some of the positions require experience but most of them don’t require any experience, so everyone is welcome to apply.
