UPDATE: Cottonwood 2 Fire burns about 10,000 acres.

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- The Department of Natural Resources says late Tuesday nigh the Cottonwood 2 Fire grew to about 10,000 acres.

The fire has moved to the north side of the Wenas Valley ridge where it is not threatening any homes. One barn and one shop were lost to the fire.

On Tuesday more than 100 firefighters were on the scene. That included four helicopters and two air tankers. A hotshot crew was also deployed.

The Yakima Valley Emergency Management director said the fire started on a shooting range at the end of Sheep Company Road. The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
