Council will vote next week whether to reduce the city codes position from full-time to part-time. They feel it doesn't need to be a full time job and can save money by cutting hours.
The mayor says the city will see an increase in codes problems if the job is cut. He plans to veto council if it they vote in favor of the cut.
"I will veto it," Jim Lemon said. "I think it's a pretty important position. We have a development department that consists of three people and I'd hate to see us lose out on keeping up with development."
The mayor says if this codes position is cut, he thinks there will be more job loss on the way.
