Unidentified body found in pond near Toppenish

TOPPENISH, Wash. -- Duck hunters near Toppenish made a gruesome discovery Sunday. A body was found in a pond near Meyers Road.

Officials said the gender, nationality, and age is difficult to determine because the pond was too muddy. There were no obvious signs of foul play.

Deputies believe the body has been there for weeks and was just found because the water level in the pond had receded.

An autopsy is expected to be scheduled early this week.
