Two men arrested in Yakima espresso stand robbery

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Two men are in custody on numerous charges after police say they robbed a Yakima espresso stand Tuesday morning.

According to the Yakima Police Department, the men approached Grizzly Espresso on Fruitvale Boulevard just before 6 o'clock. The barista working at the stand told police one man walked up to the drive-through window and pulled out a handgun, then began climbing through the window. The woman said she climbed out the opposite window, but that the second man forced her back into the stand and demanded money.

Police say the 18- and 19-year-old suspects took money out of the cash register and items from the victim's purse before driving away in her car.

Officers spotted the victim's car just after 7:30 a.m. on Englewood Avenue. After a short chase, the men lost control of the car and crashed near the intersection of Englewood and 23rd Avenues. Both suspects then ran from the crash site, but police caught up to them shortly after.

One of the suspects was taken to the hospital after being injured during the crash. The victim of the robbery was not hurt.

The two men are being held on charges including robbery, assault and kidnapping.
