Two fires in Kittitas County still burning

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. -- The Snag Canyon Fire near Ellensburg has burned nearly 10,000 acres. It's now 25 percent contained. Eight homes have been destroyed so far. Firefighters used explosives to blow out a line of trees and brush to help stop the fire.

Plumes of smoke from another wildfire can be seen from I-90 around Cle Elum. Firefighters want to get the word out to drivers to make sure the smoke does not become a distraction. The South Cle Elum Ridge Fire has charred about 400 acres.

15 homeowners have been warned they may have to evacuate.

Fire officials will be holding a meeting at the Cle Elum Senior Center Monday night at 7 p.m. to give an update on this fire and the Snag Canyon Fire.
