Transit drivers across Washington compete in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Transit drivers across the state showed off their skills in Yakima Sunday. They were competing in the annual Washington State Public Transportation Rodeo.

The competition included paratransits, 35 and 40 foot long buses. And, almost a dozen obstacles courses. That included right and left hand reverses, passenger stops and tight maneuvers.

Bus drivers from Spokane, Olympia, Seattle and Benton Franklin were there.

"This is a good place for us to put what we learned in our classes and on the road into the competition," said Transit Driver Competitor Gabe Beliz.

Nearly two dozen people competed. Four winners will be announced Sunday night.
