Traffic stop leads to arrest of Toppenish robbery suspect

TOPPENISH, Wash. -- Officers identified a 36-year-old man as a robbery suspect during a routine traffic stop.

Toppenish police said they stopped the driver, John Rocha, late Sunday night and identified the man as the suspect from a recent convenience store robbery.

Officers have been searching for Rocha since late September. They said he entered the store on Toppensih Avenue, fired a gun twice and demanded cash from the clerk.

Rocha is being held on robbery, assault, gun and drug charges.
