From the initial reports, the driver of a semi truck had struck a small child. Fire units arrived on scene and immediately provided medical care. The child, a two year old male, was transported to Toppenish Hospital where it was learned that he did not survive the accident.
The driver of the semi was a family member and from current investigations, it appears the child left the yard and crawled under the trailer of the semi that was parked at the residence. The driver started his semi and pulled forward a few feet when he realized he had struck something. The driver stated the child was in the yard last time he saw him.
Washington State Patrol is assisting on the investigation.
