The Home Depot donates time, thousands to Sunnyside veterans

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- KIMA learned The Home Depot donated $18,000 worth of building materials to help on-going construction at a veteran's memorial in Sunnyside.

Dozens of Home Depot workers also volunteered to lay those pavers. The company said it's part of a bigger effort to assist veterans.

The American Legion found it inspiring.

"That's just going beyond the call of duty type of thing, you just don't expect it. It sets you back on your heels. They're so gracious, so generous, so energetic," said veteran Greg Schlieve.

Home Depot volunteers also helped paint Sunnyside's VFW and improved a deck at a veteran's home.
