Teen hits elderly driver, house in Selah car crash
SELAH, Wash. - No one is injured after a teen driving a pickup truck crashed into an elderly driver.
Deputies said a 16-year-old was driving south on N. Wenas Road in Selah Monday night, when his pickup crossed over into oncoming traffic and crashed into a car driven by a 71-year-old woman.
The pickup then crashed into a house, according to reports. Deputies said no one was hurt in these collisions.
Investigators with the Yakima County Sheriff's Office said drowsy driving may be to blame.
"He mentioned he was tired that day. He doesn't remember colliding with her. He believes that he was within his lane,” said Casey Schilperoort, spokesperson for YCSO.
Investigators do not believe drugs, alcohol or cell phone use was a factor.
The sheriff’s office is reminding drivers to pull over if they're too tired to drive.
