Teen arrested for Yakima drive-by shooting

YAKIMA POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- On November 26th 2013 at about 2116 hours Yakima police officers were dispatched to the area of S. Fair and E. Nob Hill Blvd for a report of shots fired.

The suspect vehicle was described as a white Jeep Cherokee, and the reporting party advised 911 that someone in the vehicle had shot a gun from the vehicle in the area of 2nd St and E. Race.

The reporting party followed the suspect vehicle and called police. Officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle 6th St and Nob Hill. 7 subjects were detained during the investigation.

Following the investigation, it was determined that a 16 year old male had fired at least 2 rounds from a large caliber handgun near 2nd St and Race St. while seated inside the vehicle.

No one was injured and no property damage was located due to the shots. It is unknown if there was an intended target of the shooting. A firearm was not located, however evidence related to the shooting was.

Charges have been forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor's office requesting the charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Drive-by Shooting be filed against the suspect.
