Suspect caught in Home Street Bank robbery

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- A man accused of trying to rob Home Street Bank in Yakima this week made his first court appearance on Thursday.

William Winnier, 45, faces charges of first-degree robbery after he reportedly demanded money from a bank teller, according to court documents.

Court papers said Winnier didn’t have a weapon and was asked to leave after demanding money a second time.

Witnesses identified Winnier and police apprehended him nearby a short time later.

Court records show Winnier has a lengthy criminal history. His bail was set for $30,000.
